Their complex networking demands and continuous growth require advanced, cost-effective, and efficient solutions. To meet these needs, Chitale Dairy sought a reliable software-defined router with exceptional Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) support, low latency, and scalability to handle millions of routes and high-traffic loads. After evaluating several options, including VyOS, Sophos, and Cisco, they chose Netgate’s TNSR software.

Challenge

As Chitale Dairy scaled, its network architecture grew increasingly complex. With 4.2 million routes needing fast, constant updates for  BGP stability, full routing tables from multiple ISPs, and internet exchanges for multihoming, they required a router to handle the immense traffic load without latency issues. Utilizing existing equipment, including routers, they can immediately stop communications with infected devices on their network, preventing spam campaigns and ransomware. The business benefits of this approach are reducing human resource costs, preventing data exfiltration, and protecting the Chitale network. While traditional routers from brands such as Arista and Juniper met the technical specifications, their substantial cost necessitated Chitale Dairy’s exploration of a software router solution offering comparable capabilities at a significantly reduced cost.

Solution 

After evaluating various solutions, including VyOS, Arista, and Juniper, Chitale Dairy selected Netgate’s TNSR software. TNSR software offered the scalability and functionality necessary without incurring the substantial costs of conventional secure networking solutions. TNSR software, deployed across multiple devices such as Dell VP 460 and the Netgate 8300, effectively managed Chitale Dairy’s intricate routing requirements and delivered the company’s desired performance.

According to Vishvas Chitale, TNSR enabled Chitale Dairy to achieve significant cost savings: “Instead of spending $100,000, we spent a fraction to get the same functionality with even better performance,” he noted. This was a critical factor in their decision to move forward with TNSR.

Implementation and Support 

Chitale Dairy's deployment of TNSR software involved substantial BGP configurations, including dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6. With millions of routes to manage, TNSR’s robust BGP functionality was essential.
